problem with svcd`s

Hi,

i recently installed vlc (client) on my laptop and i`m really pleased - a
nice piece of soft..;))

Well, there is a little problem, which i hope to get solved with your
help. It don`t play svcd`s from the dvd drive, but it play´s svds (mpg)
from the harddrive and even from a cd-rom drive in the lan (!?).
Is this known and is there any workaround ?
