Hi Brett,

unfortunately no, at least not from the vlc-team itself.
the problem is that osx is based on bsd-unix, os 7-9 are completely 
apple developped, so all the unix-related program parts would have to be 
rewritten so that they work on pre-osx macs... and I don't think that 
anyone except for apple would now how to do this since nobody else knows 
how the macos handles that...

But what I was going to sugest to you is this:

there you can get patches to make osx run on older macs!
