VideoLAN Client 0.3.1 --enable-kde

I downloaded the latest snapshot : vlc-snapshot-20020505.tar.gz

did :
         ./configure --enable-esd --enable-gnome --enable-kde
         make
 and still got a lot of error messages saying 
         "invalid use of undefined type 'class KStatusBar'"
 and then
         [Kde_interface.lo.kde] Error 1

any ideas ?
