Error compiling from CVS under Mac OS X

I tried your suggestion, but I still got the following error:

/usr/bin/ld: table of contents for archive: /usr/X11R6/lib/libXv.a is out of
date; rerun ranlib(1) (can't load from it)
gmake: *** [vlc] Error 1

Anything else I should try?
