[vlc] Vlc 0.4.5 OS X -DVD audio problem

I have upgraded to 0.4.5a and have been thrilled with the capability.
VCD's (iMovie  to Toast titanium compressed) play with out a hitch;
commercial DVD's play without a hitch but DVD's, made from iMovie to
QuickTime Pro to iDVD, video is fine but the audio is fragmented as with
drop outs. Is this to be expected with this version or is there something I
need to do? Any insight appreciated.

15" iMac with superdrive and 768MB Ram
OSX 10.2.1
