Can you for example cut out advertisment and trimm the beginning and 
end of a MPEG-2 recording with QT Pro and the MPEG2 plugin without 
reencoding the MPEG-2 file? Can you do this cutting frame-accurate or 
only on I-Frames (every 0.5 seconds)?

On Windows there are programms like M2-Edit (commercial) which can 
edit MPEG-2 files frame-accurate without reencoding the whole video 
(only the P-/B-Frames around the cutting-point to the next I-Frame 
are reencoded).
