VLC 0.4.5 hasn't been officially released and the packages which have
been erroneously posted to the website contain a flaw, and should
not be used until the official announcement. We are, as I speak,
rebuilding new final candidate packages.

All 0.4.x versions of VLC work on OS X.2. Releases < 0.4.3 are
incompatible is QuickTime 6, though.
