VideoLAN Client problems under Mandrake 8.2

Hi I have just installed vlc 0.4.1 from RPM's and find that when trying to 
play dvd's and selecting disc either from command line or gui it displays 
about 25 seconds of video & then exits with the following . I have tried it 
on different chapters and always the same result. Has anyone any ideas . My 
pc is way above the minimum spec requirement for running vlc.

INPUT_MAX_ALLOCATION reached (21037056)
Segmentation fault
