[vlc] Syntax of TS file generated by vlc

Dear All,
I wonder if someone can explain me the syntax of  the file generated by 
vlc if  I choose the following parameter:  in the stream output setting 
tabfolder I check the MPEG TS option and choose File radio button (save 
it to local PC). The file seems not to be a normal TS stream, because 
when I save a TS stream from a MPEG2 decoder  equipment to a file, it 
can not be played back with Vlc
