thanks for your answers!
while, infact the server's ipv6 domain name does work.
under win xp:
>ping6 server's_ipv6_domain_name
works.
but 
>vlc -vvv --ipv6 http://server's_ipv6_domain_name/filename.avi
doesn't work.
neither does:
>vlc -vvv --ipv6 http://server's_ipv6_address/filemane.avi
can anyone help?
