I was aware of this however, the guy who created the flashes (xvi) has 
gone into semi-retirement.

Interestingly - the drive on the G5 - a pioneer dvr-106D, was set to 
region free . It was not until I used the apple dvd player software 
that it changed to rpc-2 - well at least that's what the little dvdinfo 
utility reported. Even then when I played the dvd's I got no sound so I 
believe the problem is in the sound decoding which is reported 
elsewhere in the forums.
