[vlc] changing framerate of capturing in vlc

Hi,

  I am using vlc-0.6.2 compiled with v4l support. I am
able to stream as well as see what ever i am capturing
but the video is jerky and still goes worse when i
increase resolution. I get very smooth movements when
i am using xawtv. Is there any option to set framerate
of capture in vlc. I am using matrox marvel G450 eTv.
