[vlc] downloadin vlc

Hi every1
I just want to view my DVDs and I guess vlc is a free dvd decoder but
I cannot download vlc
(either from mirror site or from main site)
it download 35 KB or something and announces happily 'downloaded
complete' but when I try to exe or unzip the .. thing
it announces an Error 
If any1 could help me Ill appreciate it
