[vlc] Re: Compiling limpeg2 - Error

ok I've tryed to do that but with mpeg2dec-20030612.tar.bz2  using 
./configure --enable-libmpeg2 
--with-libmpeg2-tree=/videolan/librerias/mpeg2dec-20030612 show the 
following message:

checking for libmpeg2.a in /videolan/librerias/mpeg2dec-20030612/... no
configure: error: cannot find 
/videolan/librerias/mpeg2dec-20030612/libmpeg2/.libs/libmpeg2.a, make 
sure you compiled libmpeg2 in /videolan/librerias/mpeg2dec-20030612/

How can a solve this problem,? do I need mpeg2dec to play a mpg1 video?
