[vlc] mplayer dependancy

Hi,
What's with the mplayer dependancy in the 0.6.0 gentoo build? Can't vlc be 
built without it? I tried but the vlc compile failed, I get
modules/codec/ffmpeg/ffmpeg.c:59:44: libpostproc/postprocess.h: No such file 
or directory
followed by a whole bunch of other errors.
