hi,
thanx for solving this lock-up issue on OSX (at least partially; i've
had one mean lock up with a mov file, but that file might be not
behaving too well - have not tried a dvd yet - with avi & mp4 i've had
no problems).
what puzzles me though is the slow decoding (yes it is a "low end"
g3-400); not that i expect any miracles, but an avi that plays fine in
vlc 0.4.6 is a slideshow in 0.5.x (even with hurry up), performance
with mp4 files is even a bit worse. performance is also lower compared
to mplayerosx (which uses the ffmpeg codec as well).
do you think there is any room for improvement or should i just expect
things to remain as they are (i.e. go help the economy a bit by raising
consumption)?
well, be assured, it's still a great piece of software, and it is only
my particularist viewpoint & high expectations that make me complain
