I have following constellation:

Debian Linux SID + vlc 0.5.3
Pentium 4 + ATI All In Wonder 8500DV

vlc is runnable only as root.
The users have only menupanel without video and without audio. Under
root works vlc fine.

I have probed setuid and super to set the root-privileges for vlc
under user account but GTK has this rejected. I read on the GTK
homepage: this feature is not supported by GTK.

Wat can i do, to make usable vlc as normally user?

Thank you for your response.

With best regards.
