Ok there are a few things you can test.

1 - Try to disable the overlay in the video section of the preferences menu.
2 - Try to disable video altogether (also in the preferences menu).
3 - Try the GDI video output plugin.
4 - Try one of our daily builds: http://vthr.via.ecp.fr/~videolan/build/
