[vlc] SAP client (standalone Python, VLC plugin...?)

I'd like to have a Web server listen for SAP announcements
and register them on a Web page for the VLC plugin to
use, and/or access SAP announcements in the VLC plugin
via Javascript. Does anyone have ideas on this?

(I also see a Python interface to SAP server announcements in
the CVS tree from 8  months ago. Is this functional?)
