[vlc] Sound problem with VLC 0.6.2

Hi,

When I play a video file of any type with VLC, the sound is jerky. The 
image itself is perfect though. Is there some tuning to do or do I need 
to install something else apart from the media player itself. The same 
videos play fine on other media players such as MPlayer or Quick Time.
I am using a Power Book G4 867, 256 RAM, with OSX 10.2.6.
