Windows Media Player SupportI use VLS to stream to WMP clients using the moonlight mpeg2 codec. WMP without a streaming codec doesn't work.

I have had variable results using multicast. Some client using WMP/moonlight work fine. Others require a non-intuitive manipulation of the WMP stop/pause/restart to get a normal streaming image.

I also have used VLC as the streaming client. Most WIN2K systems work well. Some simply reboot evey time they play stream or file. Not even a BSOD

Subject: [vlc] Windows Media Player Support

  Hello,

Recently, per this mailing list, as I understand it, support for Windows
Media Player client has been added to vlc! Great job! This support is in
the CVS version of vlc presently and would be also available (in the
pre-complied binaries) when the next release of vlc occurs.

Does this mean that vlc is capable of streaming to any WMP client on any
windows platform? such as a table PC,or
a Pocket PC-based PDA capable of running WMP?

  John
