[vlc] Embedding into other Guis (particularly Perl/Tk) ?

Hello,

I wonder if anyone knows how to embed vlc output to some window in certain
Gui system. I'm particularly interested in embedding vlc into Perl/TK Gui
system. There were some players some time ago that could do that, but their
codec support is old...

Has anyone done that or similar things or knows how to do it?
