[vlc] cannot run opie-vlc

Hi all.
I cannot seem to start VLC for opie running on an ipaq w/ familiar 0.6.
I've installed opie-libsdl_1.2.5_arm.ipk and opie-vlc_0.6.0_arm.ipk. I
can start the console version

VideoLAN Client 0.6.0 Trevelyan
remote control interface initialized, `h' for help

but when I click on the desktop shortcut, it loads for a few seconds and
then just stops. No output at all. Any ideas what could be the cause for
this?
