[vlc] mpeg-encoding

Hi,
 
I would like to try live mpeg encoding with vlc under windows xp.
I have found several hints to the Hauppauge pvr 250/350 pci cards, but to no
other.
Has somebody tested the Canopus DVstorm which has also an mpeg hardware
encoder but also supports DV input over firewire ?
