[vlc] Extract program

Dear All,
Would you please tell me how I can extract an individual program from a 
multiprogram TS bitstream. It seems that the VLC extracts only the first 
program in the TS when I redirect the output of  VLC to file.
Or can you suggest me such general tool for extracting a program from TS
