Hello all.

I would be grateful for any asistance to the following queries?

1. Is it currently possible to play back h264/avc files with VLC. I know it has an experimental version of h264 codec, but I could not figure out how to try it and play back the media. Also I was unable to specify in the windows version of VLC for it to use the h264 codec. The files I am using were generated using the JVT reference software, from a raw YUV 4:2:0 video clips. I was also told that VLC can only play back video in the h264 format, if it had only I and P frames in it. I did generate such a file, but had no luck getting it to play.

2. I wanted to download the x264 library for linux and went to http://svn.videolan.org/x264/trunk. However it seemed that this site does not exists. Do I have the url worng? Also if I downloaded these experimental libraries, would I need to recompile VLC, for it to work with VLC, (sorry, I know this question might seem silly, but I started working with Linux, SuSe 9.1 to be exact, just a week or two ago, and am still on the learning route.)

3. Is it possible to view files being streamed by a Darwin server, over RTP. From what I have been able to understand, the Darwin server sends the video info using RTSP, but the video data using RTP. VLC seems to have an option for either RTSP or UDP/RTP. Is it possible to enable both these options.

Thanks for the help.

Regards,
Hussain.
