[vlc] Advertising available programs?

Hi!

I have created a setup where several programs can be requested from a server
via several (http) URLs.  I can get a Playlist with

  vlc http://server/x http://server/y http://server/z

This works pretty well.  But I would like to go one level of indirection
further: I'd like the server to advertise which programs are available.
Something like:

  vlc --program-list http://server/programlist

and vlc would get the list of available programs from this URL.  Is such a
thing possible with vlc?
