Hi

Is it possible with VLC to change display aspect ratio in fullscreen mode ?

I transcode a continous MPEG-2 stream to a MPEG-4 stream and play it
with VLC.

My source is typically DVB as 480x576 MPEG-2 with PAR being 24:15 resulting
in 768x576 (or an aspect ratio of 4:3). Every now and then the source
change aspect ratio to 16:9 whenever the tv-channel (source) is broadcasting
a movie. Since the source is still 480x576, but with PAR now being 32:15, the
correct display geometry could be 1024x576 (16:9).

Typically I encode MPEG-4 as 480x576 with PAR being 24:15 so the dsiplay
aspect ratio becomes 4:3 (768x576) and VLC does this nicely, also in
fullscreen mode.

Howerver, when the PAR in the soruce stream changes, I currently have no
reliable way to communicate this to the player (VLC) without having to
restart the transcoder and upload a new generated sdp file and somehow
signal to the player that it must restart its playing. Therefor
it would be nice if I (on the playing side) could at least manually change
the desired display aspect ratio. This is possbile in non full screen mode,
but I can't figure out how to do it in fullscreen mode. Being able to
select 'Auto', '4:3', '16:9', '185:100' and '235:100' would be really
nice.

Kind regards
