[vlc] saving file

Hi,

 I have a very basic problem using vlc and I could not find the answer by searching the archive. I try to send a stream by:
# vlc -vvv mystream.mpeg --sout udp:225.4.5.6 --ttl 12
and receive it by: 
# vlc -vvv udp:@225.4.5.6
It plays the stream very fine! But when I try to save the video by:
# vlc -vvv udp:@225.4.5.6 --sout file/avi:rcvdstream.avi
it does not work at all (does not even play the stream!) and I see a lot of messages on the teminal (such as plugin discarded, not a valid stream, packet corrupted, ...). I also tried "ts" and "ps" formats but could get the video played or saved when using --sout option (just by removing this option ths video is played successfully).
 I appreciate your help.
