[vlc] vlc mechanism

Hi,

I have a couple of question on vlc internal mechanisms:

1 - How frames are put into packets when streaming over the network?

2 - At the receiver side of a stream, I assume under two conditions
a frame is dropped: when it's corrupted or when it is late. If
this is a correct assumption, then how much late a frame can be
    (before it is dropped)?

3 - If assumption in (2) is correct, then are partial frames played?
(This situation happens when a frame is carried by multiple
packets and some packets are late or corrupted while the rest of
them carrying a frame data are received properly and on time.)

4 - When saving a stream, are late packets dropped or saved? What
    about partial frames?

Please let me know if I have to post such questions on some other mailing list of videolan. I appreciate any comments.

         thank you,
         Farshad
