Hi
when a .dvi or any VCD is played, an X window starts up and dies just as
quickly, however sound continues.

This is a AMD1.2, 256mg, running linux-debian and versions of vlc are:
vlc/unstable uptodate 0.7.2.final-3
wxvlc/unstable uptodate 0.7.2.final-3

vlc reported errors from 'messages'-
