Use VLC's stream output function, set it to stream to a file and set
encapsulation method to MPEG-PS and you should be able to burn that
directly to dvd.

Subject: [vlc] codec question

I was wondering if you could tell me what VLC (0.7.2 for windows) uses
to play xvid files. So far I've tried the latest versions of the xvid
codec and ffdshow and so far VLC is the only one that plays back my
particular file smoothly. For watching that's great, but I want to
convert the video to another format so I can watch it on my standalone
DVD player. The video after conversion is also choppy, and I've tried
4 different encoders. That's why I think it's a codec issue.

Thanks in advance for your time.

Ron
