[vlc] Trancoding a wmv file to a mpeg2ts file

Hello,

I was trying to transcode a windows media video file to a mpeg2ts file 
with vlc. This didn't really work somehow. I was trying to do this with 
the linux version on Debian. Can anybody tell me if this is possible?
