[vlc] Shell script when stream stops?

Dear Sirs!

I'm using VLC to receive stream from another machine (also VLC) and
send it by multicast. Sometimes, remote machine stops sending stream.
What can be done to detect the loss of input and run some shell script
(basically rcmd to restart remote machine)? Thank you!
