Hoping you can help

i am using latest version of vlc on mac g4 powerbook 0sx .2.8
When i play my dvd it says its playing for about 4 seconds then crashes with
the message 
dvdread:libdvdcss can not open souce
dvd: dvdcss can not open device
access - file : cannot open file / dev/disk1 (device busy)
main:no suitable access module for '/:///dev/disk1'

your help would be greatly appreciated
