You screwed up your preferences. Remove them as described in the
Readme.MacOSX.rtf
PS. CLI is not DOS.
-I wxwin is the windows and linux intf. on OSX you use -I macosx. This
only worked because currently your preferences are set to -I http. this
trick worked by accident. You could also use this -I macosx to launch
OSX intf. then go into preferences and choose "Reset all". Or launch
VLC as ./VLC --reset-config --save-config
