[vlc] problem with building process for VLC on Debian

trying to build VLC by make results in :


# vlc-0.8.0-test1/make
................................... 
cd . && /bin/sh ./config.status Makefile depfiles 
config.status: creating Makefile 
config.status: executing depfiles commands 
make: *** No rule to make target `include/vlc_spu.h', needed by `include/vlc_symbols.h'. Stop.

any idea, what is going wrong ?
