[vlc] vlc and cron

hello! this is the first time I write to this mailinglist and I am quite a 
newbie but I hope I will be of any help soon :)
I want to use VLC as a videorecorder, I was thinking of using it with cron but 
when I add this to the crontab

39 2 23 2 * /usr/local/bin/vlc --advanced udpstream:@239.113.1.83:11111  
-display 127.0.0.1:0

nothing happens. I tried other X applications, and adding "display 
127.0.0.1:0" they work fine. 
Can anybody help me?
