[vlc] Where is the --http_user and --http-pwd option

I noticed that in the last release, these options have disappeared.
Is it wanted ?
How can i tell vlc to use some user and some password to acces a http 
protected stream ?
telling vlc to open http:user:pass at streamserver:port doesn't work any more.
