[vlc] v4l woes

Hi,
I _REALLY_ need this to work so a prompt reply is much appreciated.

I've got a bt878 card, I use v4l2, what I am trying to do is set up  
streaming TV, so I can watch TV in my bedroom over my wifi on my mac,  
vlc seems the only choice here as its cross platform. First of all  
I'd like to be able to watch TV with vlc, this would allow me to do  
some testing of the input before getting involved in the streaming  
aspect. TV decoding does not appear to work

I can use the card with the tvtime command line

tvtime -m -d /dev/video0 -i 1

I'm only trying to watch the composite input of the card so it  
simplifies things a little.

To the best of my knowledge this should loosely translate to the vlc  
command line

vlc --color v4l:/dev/video0:channel=1

However when I run this command I get a locked up gui which is  
partially drawn, i add in the -vvv for verbose debugging, output  
follows at end of message

last message repeats itself so I'm guessing that its something to do  
with that.
