[vlc] MOV playback

Hi all,

my vlc is unable to play hinted mov files. Is this normal?
My MOV file is created as follows:

I open an M2V file with Quicktime 6 Pro.
Next I export the file to a hinted movie.
So this file contains 2 streams: the hints and the MPEG-2 file and cannot be
played on vlc?

btw, I use windows XP.
