[vlc] timestamps

Hi,
I've been using VLC for sometime now to multicast
mpeg4 streams over mpeg2-TS over wi-fi. I am not very
conversant with codecs, but I'm curious to know how
are the timestamps sent to the player?
In the TS adaptation field, In the PES optional field
or some other method ?
