Because I am not yet familiar with compiling vlc (normally I am running it on Windows) I have missed to use this option.

I am sure this will do it.

Hi,

    You should enable mozilla bye giving options (--enable-mozilla) when 
you  compile the vlc source.
    If you have missed it then it will not create libvlcplugin.so.

    After compiling the vlc source with enable mozilla you should copy 
libvlcplugin.so and vlcintf.xpt in the directory
    /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins
