apparently the latest ebuild (0.8.1, as opposed to 0.8.0) needs ffmpeg
as a use-flag.

imho, this means using:
media-video/vlc dvd ffmpeg aac a52 dts ogg flac oggvorbis theora
matroska cdio cddb xv bidi freetype wxwindows gnutls

faad --> aac.
truetype --> freetype.
nls, imlib, png, stream* & streamout* --> deprecated.

(whoops, i need to re-emerge with new use-flags...  i will test this
when i get home.)
(*stream and streamout haven't been included for any version cited... 
what's with that?)
