ok, here's the ebuild for 0.8.1...  ffmpeg and cdio are masked.  so
ffmpeg also got added to /etc/portage/package.keyword, but cdio i
dropped because i can deal with another app for the rare rare time i
actually listen to a cd rather than mp3, ogg vorbis, or flac.

my package.use for vlc ended up as:
dvd ffmpeg aac dts a52 ogg flac theora oggvorbis matroska mad
wxwindows freetype bidi xv svga ggi gnutls stream streamout

(i still don't see streamout anywhere... sout linked to stream,
neither of which are in the IUSE but stream is in the code...  i
didn't really human-interpret the code to see how it gets referenced.)

which is why i've attached the ebuild here.
