[vlc] Capture card recommendation?

Not being able to use "deinterlace" while transcoding and not being
able to capture at more than 320x240 on my WinTVGo Hauppage card means
I'm getting a fairly crappy image from the composite-in for streaming.
Can anyone on the list recommend a capture device that vlc works well
with, supports transcoder-side deinterlacing, has a capture resolution
greater than 320x240 and works under the 2.6.11 kernel series and
generally gives a nice image from s-video or composite?
I'm looking at the WinTV-USB2 capture device but am finding it
difficult to get any solid information on it.
