[vlc] image output - PNG

A couple of questions, if I may, regarding image output:
1) MacOSX version doesn't seem to support PNG output even though it 
appears in the preferences - is that correct?
2) Windoze version seems to keep grabbing more memory for each and 
every image output - the memory used keeps growing until the machine 
swaps and grinds to a halt - is there a fix for this?
3) Any other formats supported by patches? (I'm particularly interested 
in PPM/PGM)
