Thanks for reporting the problems. I made a big error in naming the
repository subparts. It has been corrected now.

You need to run:
$ yum update

And it should say something like this:

Setting up Update Process
Setting up repositories
vlc                       100% |=========================|  951 B    00:00
vlc-contrib               100% |=========================|  951 B    00:00
extras                    100% |=========================| 1.1 kB    00:00
updates-released          100% |=========================|  951 B    00:00
base                      100% |=========================| 1.1 kB    00:00
Reading repository metadata in from local files
primary.xml.gz            100% |=========================| 3.0 kB    00:00
vlc       : ################################################## 1/1
Added 1 new packages, deleted 0 old in 0.07 seconds
primary.xml.gz            100% |=========================| 9.4 kB    00:00
vlc-contri: ################################################## 27/27
Added 27 new packages, deleted 0 old in 0.13 seconds

Then run yum install (beware if you combine the vlc yum repository with
other repositories like dag or livnia, then there will be some conflicts
left. I hope to eliminate them in the future, but this might take sometime.)

Gtz,
Jean-Paul Saman.
