[vlc] can't build on Mac OSX Panther 10.3.9

Hello, all ...

I posted to vlc-devel, but that doesn't seem to work anymore ...  i'm  
having troubles building VLC on Mac OSX 10.3.9.  After disabling shout,  
I get the following:
