[vlc] problem capturing tv with vlc

Hi all,
I have a PC with a windows 2003 server which has a hibrid capture card 
(hauppauge hvr hibrid card),
and i wish to encoding some contents obtained from this card using the 
vlc. Once the vlc is configured to
began the capture, nothing is watched, and only noise is listen.
Can anybody help me?
